Mission Action Plan

What is a church for?

It might at first glance seem like a fairly obvious question, but at second glance, and when you try to define what it is we could or should be doing and contrast it with what we actually are or have been doing, then the gaps often start to appear!

That is what a Mission Action Plan is all about

The process of mission action planning requires a church community to ask itself just that sort of question, as well as the questions which flow from it:

  • How do we best serve God and our neighbour and tell the story of Jesus Christ in Fulham today?
  • How can we best equip ourselves to welcome the stranger, the seeker, the joyful and the broken so as to become the people God intends us to be?

How does a Mission Action Plan aim to achieve this?

We review the past, what has worked well, and what has not, and seek to build on success.  We ask questions about the needs of the present day, so as to try and meet them, and we ask for the Holy Spirit’s inspiration to help us build for the future.

We need to build our resources of welcome, care, training and communication so that we will be equipped to serve God’s people in Fulham.  So our vision of the four main areas of development for 2009-12 is:

Feeding the Body

  • A church where each member feels they belong
  • A congregation where all members can pastor to those around them
  • A church where all ages participate in worship and deepen their faith
  • A community that prays in church, in small groups and individually

Communicating the Good News

  • A community which warmly welcomes all comers providing the information and support needed
  • A church that is valued and understood within the local community
  • A congregation which communicates its activities in a way that will encourage, inspire and inform

Community Development

  • A church where we can learn more about our community
  • A community where we can reflect and plan together
  • A congregation to serve our community

Building Our Resources

  • A church where lay people feel confident to lead
  • A congregation which understands our financial situation, manages it
    responsibly and gives money generously and effectively
  • A community with enough space for us to grow

How can all this affect you?

Well one way might be through our Time and Talents scheme which
encourages all members to grow into membership by becoming
involved with volunteering at All Saints Fulham and in our local community.
